How to Report Abuse on TempMailPortal
TempMailPortal is built for privacy and for testing your own apps — not for abuse. If you have run into spam, phishing, a scam, impersonation, or other misuse connected to a temporary address from this service, send the available evidence to the dedicated abuse contact. This page explains what to include, how the short retention window limits an investigation and which outcomes cannot be promised.
Send the evidence to the abuse contact
Email abuse@tempmailportal.com. This address separates abuse reports from general support, but TempMailPortal does not promise a response time or a particular outcome. You do not need an account or need to be a TempMailPortal user to report something.
Email abuse@tempmailportal.com with the temporary address, date and time, and a copy or screenshot of the offending message. Those details are needed to assess a report before short-lived message data expires.
What counts as abuse
Our Terms of Service set the boundaries, but in plain terms, please report anything like:
- Phishing or scams — messages trying to trick someone into handing over passwords, codes, money, or personal data.
- Spam — unsolicited bulk or commercial messages.
- Fraud — using a disposable address to deceive a person or a service for gain.
- Impersonation — someone pretending to be you, your brand, or your organisation.
- Harassment or threats directed at a person.
- Mass or automated sign-ups, ban evasion, or free-trial abuse on a third-party platform.
- Illegal content of any kind.
Remember that this service is receive-only — it cannot send email. So a temporary address can receive a phishing message, and a bad actor can use a temporary address to register somewhere they shouldn't, but no outbound spam is ever sent from TempMailPortal. That distinction often helps you work out where to report.
What to include in your report
You don't need to be technical. Include whatever you have — even a single screenshot helps — but the most useful reports contain:
- The temporary address involved (for example,
something@one of our disposable domains). - The date and time you saw the message or activity, with your time zone if you can.
- A copy or screenshot of the offending message, including the subject line and the sender.
- Full email headers if you have them — these help trace the real source. (Optional, but valuable.)
- The platform or account affected, if your report is about a sign-up or impersonation somewhere else.
- What you'd like us to do, if you have a preference (block an address, remove content, and so on).
Temporary inboxes and the messages in them auto-delete within about 24 hours. If your report depends on the contents of a message, capture a screenshot and send it sooner rather than later — once a message expires, we cannot recover it.
How a report may be handled
The operator can assess a sufficiently detailed report while relevant data still exists. Depending on the evidence and what the service controls, possible actions may include:
- Block or rate-limit the offending address, domain, or IP address so it can no longer use the service.
- Remove content or restrict access where appropriate.
- Tighten abuse-prevention rules so the same pattern is caught automatically next time.
- Cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement, within what the law requires and what our short data-retention window allows.
Because the service keeps little data and deletes messages quickly, an individual report may arrive after the relevant evidence has expired. TempMailPortal cannot promise that every report can be verified, acted on or answered, and may be unable to share an investigation outcome.
What we can and can't do
It helps to be clear about the limits so you can also report to the right place:
- We can assess activity involving infrastructure we control and, when supported by the available evidence and controls, restrict access or tighten abuse-prevention rules.
- We can't send email on anyone's behalf, recover messages that have already expired, or take action on another company's platform.
- We're not law enforcement. If you've been the victim of a crime — fraud, extortion, or serious threats — please also contact your local authorities. We'll cooperate with valid legal requests.
If you received a scam in a temporary inbox
A disposable inbox doesn't make a malicious message safe. Treat a scam the same way you would anywhere else: don't click links, don't download attachments, and don't reply with personal data. Our guide on how to spot a phishing email walks through the red flags, and are temporary emails safe? explains what disposable mail does and doesn't protect you from. Then send the details our way so we can act on the pattern.
For platform and website operators
If disposable sign-ups are causing problems on your service, you may block them under your own rules. If you believe a specific TempMailPortal address is being used to abuse your platform, send abuse@tempmailportal.com the address, timestamps and pattern you observed so the operator can assess it. Developers building legitimate integrations should also read the API acceptable-use rules.
Specific, time-stamped reports are the most useful because they can be compared with the limited data that remains during the short retention window.
